Long Stables
If you follow Breite Straße going east in the direction of the former palace, you pass the place where the Garrison Church once stood. It was built under the so-called Soldier King Frederick William I; with its 88-meter bell tower it soon became the symbol of Potsdam. The church also served as a tomb for the kings; both Frederick William I as well as Frederick II are buried here - the latter against his will. Behind the church which was destroyed during World War II and later completely demolished, Frederick William I had another special structure built.
