Barberini Palace

The Palazzo Barberini was located close to the Havel River at Alter Markt. Beginning in 1771, an imposing building was erected where today we see green space on the river banks. The structure served as the grand southern boundary of the Old Market square and completed the architectural ensemble surrounding the square envisioned by Frederick II.
