The Neuer Markt is not far away from the Alter Markt. Originally, one went down Schwertfegerstraße to St Nicholas Church at the Alter Markt; today, Schwertfegerstraße ends at Friedrich-Ebert-Straße. The area across from here includes a modern style building which houses the Potsdam University of Applied Science.
